Description
The Specialization in Latin American Studies is open to students in the Global Development Studies program.
Graduating students who have fulfilled the requirements for a single- or joint-major Honours or General degree in Global Development Studies may apply for a Specialization in Latin American Studies if they have successfully completed the following 5.0 credits:
1.0 GDST credit consisting of GDST 1001H and 1002H
1.0 SPAN credit from SPAN 1000Y or 1001H and 1002H*; or from 2001H and 2002H**
1.5 GDST credits consisting of GDST 3760Y and 3830H (taken in Bolivia)
1.0 SPAN credit consisting of SPAN 2501H and 2502H (taken in Bolivia)
0.5 credit from GDST 3891H or 0.5 SPAN credit in addition to the above
*Students whose level of fluency in Spanish is judged to exceed the level of SPAN 1000Y are exempt from this requirement
**Students whose level of fluency in Spanish is judged to exceed the level of SPAN 2002H are exempt from this requirement
Note: The Specialization may be completed as an Option in Latin American Studies for students not majoring in Global Development Studies.
