Artificial Intelligence is an interdisciplinary program enabling students not only to gain theoretical understanding of learning models and intelligence, but to integrate and synthesize this knowledge in connection with the foundational areas of computation, statistics, cognition and philosophy across a breadth of application areas. The program in Artificial Intelligence will equip students to grapple with the complex ethical, conceptual, technique and institutional challenges associated with the growing demands for a variety of career options related to AI and its applications.
The Artificial Intelligence program responds to the rapid advancements of today’s technology, the growing demand for AI professionals in industry, organizations, academic research, both locally and globally. The program integrates multiple academic units, encouraging students to explore AI from diverse perspectives and understand its applications across various domains.
The program will enable students to understand the theoretical foundation of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (ML), gain knowledge on philosophy and AI, develop skills in computer programming and communication, and experience AI applications in various areas. Topics include computer programming and applications, machine learning tools and algorithms, communications, ethics and logical studies, social and economic impacts and research. The program incorporates methodologies for systems and applications of data analytics from different perspectives. Students will gain real-world experience through hands-on lab practice and capstone projects, and will have the opportunity to complete a research practicum or a co-op. The BA program covers the basics of computer programming, machine learning tools, and algorithms, and focuses on logical reasoning, ethics, human learning, and the social aspects and implications of AI.
